COM | MDC T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST

About the contest

The Department of Communication and Media wants to create a t-shirt that all of our majors can wear and we need your help!

The challenge is that we have TWO majors: Communication Studies and Media and Culture but we need ONE t-shirt. Help us create a design that will bring all of our students together!

Things you can include in your design

  • original illustrations, graphics, or photos
  • original text
  • short quotes with source attributions

Design Parameters

Resolution: All designs must be at least 300 DPI to ensure clarity and detail in the final print.

File Formats: Please submit your designs in PNG or JPG format. PNG is preferred for designs with transparent elements.

Color Mode: Design in CMYK to closely match the printing colors. RGB submissions are accepted but may experience slight color shifts.

Design Dimensions: Your design dimensions should be about 4500 x 5500 (up to 5700) pixels. If using Canva, you will be limited to 5500 pixels max.

Background Transparency: For designs intended to have no background color, use a transparent background (PNG format).

Text in Designs: Convert all text to outlines to prevent any font mismatches during printing.

Complexity and Color: While we encourage creativity, remember that excessive complexity or too many colors might affect print quality, especially in certain printing techniques.

Previewing Your Design: Utilize mockup tools to preview your design on a T-shirt. This helps in visualizing the final product.

File Size: Ensure your design file does not exceed 50MB to comply with upload restrictions.

Copyright and Trademarks: Your design must be original and free of any copyright or trademark infringements. When including photos of people, you must obtain a signed photo release form from each person in the photograph.
