Meet Kate Schill! Kate is from Montgomery County, PA and is a Junior here at West Chester University. Kate first started as a Communication Studies major, but is now currently a Media and Culture major and very happy with here decision to switch.
Back at home, Kate has a 23 year old brother, and her Mom and Dad. She has a very close relationship with her mother and feels that she has shaped her into who she is today and how she goes about certain things. Kate is very close with her family and loves any chance she can get to go home and visit them! Kate and her mom have a tradition that every winter and summer break, they take a day trip to New York City to see a Broadway show and get brunch. This is something that Kate really cherishes because she always makes the best memories on these trips with her mom. This past winter break, she saw “Once On This Island” on Broadway and has been obsessed with it ever since! She loves to create these memories with her mom and hopes this tradition will last forever.
Hobbies and Personality
Kate is a very friendly, outgoing student which is why she gets along so well with others. She is sorority member of Delta Zeta and a current Public Relations Chair member. Kate is also a new member of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) here at West Chester. A quality that best describes her is that she is very driven. When she wants to achieve something, she will work as hard as she has to in order to get where she wants to be. In high school, Kate sang acted, and danced in music theater. She has a hidden passion for music and singing but hasn’t done anything with it in college because of her schedule being so busy already.
Benefits of Joining a Sorority
Kate believes that joining Delta Zeta changed her life for the better. Not only did it help her get immensely involved, but it also allowed her to make so many new friendships that will last forever. Kate is the Public Relations chair of Delta Zeta which means that she is in charge of all of their social media. She feels that this has given her a lot of experience with the field that she is interested in. She is also song and ritual chair and the assistant to the new member educator. Although these positions keep her busy, she loves every second and really enjoys being involved in her sorority.
Currently, Kate has an internship with Piqued PR every Tuesday and Thursday. So far she is loving everything about it. In the future, she hopes to find a career in Public Relations or Social Media, so her internship is a great opportunity to introduce her to these things. At her internship, she works with bloggers, influencers, and other clients to promote their business through social media. She will also be attending events with Piqued PR. She is learning more and more every day and hopes to use these skills in her future career!
Advice for Others
Some advice that Kate has for others is to always follow your dreams no matter how difficult or unachievable they may seem. She believes that if you are truly passionate about something, you can make anything you wish a reality.
